Holistic Tulsi decoction
The main ingredient in this decoction, also known as “kadha” in Hindi, is derived from a medicinal plant of ancient origin“Holy Basil” that has been famous for its life saving properties. It helps to improve immunity with its powerful antioxidants along with actively controlling cold, cough, bronchitis, asthma and other respiratory illnesses.
- Water- 2 cups
- Holy basil (Tulsi)- 8-10 leaves
- Lemon- ½ medium sizes(1 spoon juice)
- Honey- ½ tsp (optional)
- Cinnamon- 1-2 pinch piece
Method - Boil the Tulsi leaves and cinnamon in water for 5-7 minutes while stirring occasionally.Switch off the flame now and add lemon juice and honey to make the decoction more powerful. Strain in a cup and drink it hot for best results daily.
Desi - kadha (Ancient original recipe)
This kadha recipe is widely suggested by “Ministry of Ayush” to promote healthy immune system, which can fight with infections and existing respiratory illnesses. The entire ingredients used in this decoction (kadha) are popular antioxidants, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial with scientifically proven medicinal properties.
- Water- 3-4 cups
- Black pepper- 2-3 seeds
- Ginger- 1 inch piece (crushed)
- Cinnamon- 1 inch piece (¼ tsp) powder
- Jaggery- 1 small piece
- Tulsi (holy basil)- 8 -10 leaves
- Big Raisins (Munakka)- 2 - 3
Method - Boil water in a pan, add cinnamon, ginger, black pepper seeds, Tulsi leaves, raisins along with jaggery,and boil it till the mixture becomes half in content. Strain in a cup and consume hot.
This decoction is specially recommended for people who already have pre-existing conditions such as coughing, sore throats, various respiratory illnesses, arthritis, and heart problems. It also helps to reduce the risk of diabetes and cancer in future. Cinnamon contains active compounds which are anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-tussive and anti diabetic in future.
- Cinnamon- 2-3 inch piece (1/2 tsp)
- Honey- 1 tsp
- Lemon- 1/4 tsp
Method - Boil water in a pan, add cinnamon, and bring it to boil for 5-7 minutes. Switch off the flame and add honey and lemon. Sieve in a cup and drink hot.
This tasty decoction is one of the healthiest ways to incorporate ginger and honey as a remedy to combat infections and build immunity. This combination mixture is anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antiseptic in nature and helps to promote digestion and strengthen immune systems. They also help to prevent respiratory illnesses, reduce the growth of cancer cells, heart diseases and infections. It should preferably be taken during the bedtime.
- Fresh ginger juice- 2 tbsp
- Honey- 1 tbsp
Method - Grate or crush the ginger, squeeze the juice in a small bowl, now mix honey and have it instantly. To be noted, don’t drink water after having it. Bedtime is the safest time to have it.
Giloy is a well-known herb that contains powerful antioxidants and has anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and anti-pyretic properties which not only fight but also reduce the risk of dangerous diseases such as malaria, flu, and dengue. Additionally, it has many other benefits like boosting immunity, useful in treating heart diseases, infertility, irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, respiratory problems, and rheumatoid arthritis.
- Giloy- 1 tsp
- Water- 2-3 cups
- Honey- ½ tsp (optional)
Method - Boil water in a pan, then add giloy powder, and boil for 1-2 minutes. Strain in a cup or glass, mix honey if desired. Serve hot.
Golden milk is the super formula and a well-known drink which existed during ancient Indian living. It not only helps to boost immunity, but also helps in healing internal or external wounds. It also reduces the risk of infections and diseases while enhancing the glow on skin. It contains powerful antioxidants which have strong antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties.
- Milk- 150 ml
- Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
- Cinnamon powder- ¼ tsp powder
- Ginger juice- ¼ tsp or (1 inch of ginger piece)
Method - Heat milk in a pan and bring it to a boil. Add turmeric, cinnamon piece and ginger and again boil for around 1 minute. If you are not having diabetes then you can also consider a teaspoon of sugar. Strain in a cup and drink as a tea.
